Nicole Newman, President/CEO of Newman Networks is an inspiring motivational speaker, technology writer for the national on-line newspaper, The Examiner and exceptional business networker. She was born in Washington DC and grew up in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. She acquired a strong work ethic as a product of Julia R. Reynolds Masterman School and the George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science.
She started her college career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In her second year she was involved in a car accident that left her with a broken femur bone and a sublegal hematoma to the brain. Although she was unable to complete school at the University of NC at Greensboro, 2 months later while on crutches she transferred to Temple University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Fox school of Business with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Risk Management and Insurance, Management Information Systems and a minor in Human Resources. She went on to complete her MBA at the prestigious Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland majoring in Finance.
Nicole started her professional Information Technology career at CIGNA where she found a niche in database design and reporting. She was fascinated by putting data in a sequence that created information. After a 15 year run, she ended her corporate career at the global consulting firm of Deloitte Touche Tomatsu. She learned intrapreneurship skills from the Chief Learning Officer, Nick Van Dam founder of the non-profit organization http://www.e-learningforkids.org. She used that knowledge to pursue her passion in entrepreneurism and bridging the digital divide.
Nicole started Newman Networks, a Pennsylvania and Delaware certified M/WBE firm,in April of 2006 which owned www.diversephilly.com, a website for businesses to share the costs of advertising. In just the second year, the company quadrupled revenue. With 2000 linkedin connections, 6000 Facebook friends and 80 testimonials, the company created a massive network in the local marketplace. Nicole is a former member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and current member of The Power Lunch Project. She was recently honored with by the NAACP for being one of 2012′s most influential African American women, The 2011 Madam CJ Walker award presented by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (Pennsylvania Chapter) and The Business Center’s 2010 Awardee for Best Practices in Creative Marketing, in addition to The Philadelphia Tribune’s 10 under 40 to watch of Influential African Americans and the Urban Momentum’s 2009 Networker of the Year.
Nicole is also a single mom of three children ages 11, 9 and 8 and resides in the West Philadelphia section of the city.
